DAY 0 PREFLIGHT BEFORE THE FIRST MISSION
A guided readiness pathway removes the account, Git, permissions, and setup friction before the live intensive begins.
THE ACCOUNT MODEL
KnowCode does not create a shared classroom account or take ownership of a student’s account. The student creates or uses a personal ChatGPT account, upgrades it to an eligible paid plan for class, and receives the included KnowCode reimbursement.
Open or use your free personal ChatGPT account, then upgrade that same account to an eligible plan that includes Codex. Submit proof of purchase and KnowCode reimburses up to $50. When the allowance is exhausted, you are responsible for additional subscription, usage, or renewal charges unless you cancel.
Students with an eligible Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, or education workspace can use their existing access. No account change is required.
The $50 allowance is a KnowCode Academy reimbursement benefit—not OpenAI account credit, an OpenAI sponsorship, or a transferable subscription. The student purchases the eligible plan in their own account. OpenAI controls plan availability, features, limits, pricing, renewal, and cancellation terms.
DAY 0 · BEFORE FLIGHT TRAINING
This is not homework for experts. It is a short, verified runway that protects all twelve classroom hours for meaningful engineering.
Create or confirm your personal ChatGPT account. You keep the account, your work, and your sign-in after class.
Install the Codex app, Git, and the course’s supported development tools on the computer you will use in class.
Confirm your GitHub sign-in, multifactor authentication, and permission to create a branch and pull request.
Open the training repository, make a safe change, run a test, commit it, push it, and open a practice pull request.
Bring any remaining account, laptop, firewall, or permissions problem to a live clinic before the intensive.
KNOWCODE PREFLIGHT
PROVE THE PATH—ONCE
Day 0 completes account setup before Mission 1. The readiness exercise walks through the exact engineering loop used in class and exposes sign-in, software, network, repository, and approval issues while there is still time to fix them.
Students who are not yet ready can join a live 45-minute setup clinic with a human—not lose the first morning watching installations.
WHAT TO BRING
Coding experience changes a student’s starting point—not the value of the training or the outcome they can achieve.
Software engineers, developers, technical architects, automation engineers, and other practitioners already comfortable reading, changing, testing, and delivering code.
Cloud, infrastructure, networking, security, systems, support, operations, analysis, and technical leaders—with or without professional coding experience.
The strongest predictor is meaningful IT experience. The more time a student has spent solving real technology problems, understanding systems, managing risk, supporting users, and making technical decisions, the more context they bring to Codex. Both groups learn the same Codex-and-AWS method: frame the work, direct the tools, verify the result, and own the architecture.
